She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his twenty-ninth birthday. Her life is his until she’s paid off a debt that’s centuries old. He can do what he likes with her—nothing is out of bounds—she has to obey.

When you read a novel by Pepper Winters, you never really know what you’re getting yourself into. This always intrigues me and scares me to no end; though I have not read one of these books and not liked it. Pepper has this way with words that can make you fall in love with the most unlikely of characters. I have witnessed other authors trying to follow the same method with no success. Nobody does dark and twisted like Pepper.

Are you wondering how twisted this book really is? All you need to do is read the blurb in order to understand just what could possibly within the pages. With a debt that is about as old as the discovery of America, the Weaver family owes the Hawk family a whole lot more than any money could possibly buy. As the years pass with these bloodlines, the Weaver family must pay the debt by offering the first-born daughter of each generation to the Hawk family. Nila Weaver is the next in line for succession and she is clueless to the entire debt until she is placed into the hands of Jethro Hawk by her very own father. Jethro is a character that you should instantly dislike. In pure Pepper fashion, I was intrigued from the very beginning.

The thing that killed me with this book was that damn cliffhanger. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the next book in the series because waiting is going to fry my brain. I need to know what happens next!

It’s dark, it’s twisted, it’s fucked up.. it’s a Pepper Winters novel. Fans are going to love this next addition to her published works.

Q: Did you always aspire to be an author?

I’ve always loved stories. I started reading full chapter books while most kids were learning the alphabet, it was ridiculous. I devoured them. And soon after, I started coming up with stories. I used to coordinate all the play among my friends and cousins, acting out the stories I’d come up with. So no, not always an author, but always a storyteller.

Q: What inspired you to write How to Reprimand Your Rock Star?

I wanted to write a sexy, dominant rock star. Keaton came to me quick and easy, haha. When it came time for me to dream up a foil for him, I thought, who could possibly go toe to toe with a mega star? I thought a female athlete would be a great counterpart to Keaton, and Thea was born. I love the idea of having the most desirable man in the world fall for you, only for him to want you to dominate him. It’s such an outrageous fantasy, but I grounded it in college life and that made it feel more real somehow. I hope people agree!

Q: What can readers expect from How to Reprimand Your Rock Star?

I think they’ll get some steamy romance, some female empowerment, a case of the swoons, and I think they’ll find themselves cheering for Thea both on and off the court.

Q: If you had to pick one word to describe How to Reprimand Your Rock Star, what would it be?

Wild!

Q: Do you have a favourite part in a book that you love to write?

I love writing sexual tension, near misses. That moment that gets so close but then stops early or not at all.

Q: How have your personal experiences affected your writing?

I am an athlete myself, and I’m a rock fanatic. A perfect marriage of my favorite things!

Q: If you could work with any author, who would it be?

I’d love to work with Delilah S. Dawson. Her work is imaginative, sexy and totally original. She’s also super cool in person.

Q: What is the most recent book you have read and enjoyed?

I loved The Saint, by Tiffany Reisz. Her Original Sinners series is an absolute favorite of mine. Smart, funny, clever, the works!

Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

Write what you want, what gets you going. It will show! If you write to trends or write just to get an agent, you won’t be tapping in to the passion that shows through on the page. Take risks! It’s worth it.

Q: What can we expect from you in the future?

I’m currently working on the third DommeNation book, How to Punish Your Playboy. It’s about a pin-up model and an arrogant restaurateur and it’s smokin’ hot. I think people will love it.

Blog Tour & ARC Review: Tamed (Tangled #3) by Emma Chase

TamedStop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn’t where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

Tamed goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

By now I’m sure that we’ve all read Tangled and Twisted. While Drew and Kate’s story was being told, another was unfolding between their friends Dee and Matthew. If you’ve read the previous books then you already know what becomes of this precious couple; don’t let that deter you from reading Tamed because there is a whole lot that we were all yet to learn.

We are taken back in time with this book. Following the same timeline as Tangled, it begins when Dee and Matthew first meet. The sparks between these two characters is undeniable and it is thrilling to see their relationship unfold into what could be described as the opposite of the norm. While Matthew is ready to give himself wholeheartedly to Dee and change his eligible bachelor ways, Dee is determined to make sure that they only spend the one night together. What could possibly happen when Matthew just can’t get enough of her?

I’m a huge fan of Emma’s so it was inevitable that I would love this story. Her writing is different and fresh compared to some of the more conventional styles that you read in any book that you pick up. Instead of describing everything from an outside perspective, she draws you in by allowing the main characters to take on a life of their own. The characters were easy to love and the story was something I could read over and over again. The only criticism I have is that the book ended too abruptly. I was ready for so much more of Matthew and Dee, then there wasn’t any pages left. I just didn’t want it to be over.

Fans of the Tangled series are going to love this book. If you are a newbie to the Emma Chase Fan Club, make sure you read Tangled and Twisted before you read Tamed, just to get an insight of the characters, especially Kate and Drew. If you wish to surpass the previous books then you should be able to read Tamed just as you would any standalone novel. You also get an additional novella, Holy Frigging Matrimony, at the end of this book.

“This was the moment that would determine the rest of my life. And nothing after it would ever be the same.”

ARC Review: Beautiful Oblivion (Beautiful #3) by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Oblivion

The Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster phenomenon continues in the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series.

Fiercely independent Camille “Cami” Camlin gladly moved on from her childhood before it was over. She has held down a job since before she could drive, and moved into her own apartment after her freshman year of college. Now tending bar at The Red Door, Cami doesn’t have time for much else besides work and classes, until a trip to see her boyfriend is cancelled, leaving her with a first weekend off in almost a year.

Trenton Maddox was the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school. His friends wanted to be him, and women wanted to tame him, but after a tragic accident turned his world upside down, Trenton leaves campus to come to grips with the crushing guilt.

Eighteen months later, Trenton is living at home with his widower father, and works full-time at a local tattoo parlor to help with the bills. Just when he thinks his life is returning to normal, he notices Cami sitting alone at a table at The Red.

As the baby sister of four rowdy brothers, Cami believes she’ll have no problem keeping her new friendship with Trenton Maddox strictly platonic. But when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever—even if she is the only reason their already broken family could fall apart.

In the first installment of the Maddox Brothers books, readers can experience the rush of reading Beautiful Disaster for the first time, all over again.

**ARC provided by Simon & Schuster Australia in exchange for an honest review.**

In Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster we fell in love with Travis Maddox, now we can fixate our sights on his older brother Trent. It has been a few years since Beautiful Disaster was released and the anticipation to know the stories of those boisterous band of brothers has been almost too much to bare. It feels like it’s been a lifetime but we finally get to have the Maddox Brothers in our hands and on our book shelves again. Beautiful Oblivion is the third novel in the Beautiful series and tells the story of Trent and Cami with the expectation that each Maddox Brother will get their own book following on from this story.

Trent has always been known as the bad boy in town and Cami knows that staying away from him is in her best interest. With a long distance relationship and the need to be as independent as she can possibly be, Cami has no time to even consider adding another factor into her life; especially the likes of Trenton Maddox. When a night out leads to them running into each other, a chain of events start to unravel and the most unlikely of friendships is formed.

I’m sure we all remember Travis’ little obsession with Abby in Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster; times that by 10 and you have Trent’s dedication to his relationship with Cami. Not only is this Maddox brother determined, but he tries to get her in every way possible. Cami can’t help but feel conflicted between her feelings for Trent and her feelings for her boyfriend TJ. When it comes to listening to your head or your heart, Cami has a big decision to make. Which guy will win her heart forever?

Let’s be honest.. if you are a fan of the New Adult genre and you haven’t yet read a Jamie McGuire novel, you’ve probably been living under a rock or you’ve only just discovered the awesomeness that is the NA genre. That’s okay because we’re going to rectify this little situation and you’re going to fallen in love with her novels. If this is the case then I wish I was you because falling in love with a Maddox brother is a one time experience that you’ll never forget. Beautiful Oblivion is just another great example that Jamie McGuire is exceptional at what she does. Not only does she provide her fans with an exceptional story, but she never disappoints them when it comes to quality of writing and the entertainment factor of the novel as a whole. From start to finish I was completely in awe of Trent and Cami. I only wish that we could have gone into their back-stories a bit more, especially for Trent. I just have so many unanswered questions about the horrible incident he experienced before he started to pursue Cami.

Please be advised that this is not a continuation of Abby and Travis’ story. The events that occur in this book coincide with those that took place in Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster. It is by no means a repetition of the previous novels, there is just a few significant events that are told from the eyes of Trent and Cami. It’s a whole new story that is one enjoyable read that holds a major twist that will blow your mind.

“I don’t want the whole story. I just want you.”

Blog Tour, ARC Review & Giveaway: UnWritten by Chelsea M. Cameron

UnWrittenBlair Walton isn’t your average tattooed children’s librarian. She’s also one half of bestselling romance author, Scarlet Rose. Along with her bff Raine, she spends her nights writing books so steamy, she’s afraid they would shock her Southern conservative grandmother to death, if she knew about them. Blair and Raine keep their smut peddling ways a secret from everyone, including family.

On deadline for their latest book and out of ideas, Raine suggests (demands) that Blair find a guy and “do some research.” It just so happens that Blair has a guy that’s ready and willing. Declan Bennet has all the qualifications: He’s British, looks fabulous in a suit and gets bonus points for being a single dad. But what started out as a research project quickly turns into something much more. Someone else is writing this love story and Blair has completely lost control. But will Declan still feel the same way when he finds out the truth about Blair and her secret motives?

**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.**

This is yet another amazing read from Chelsea M. Cameron. There are only a few of Chelsea’s books that I haven’t read but she continues to blow me away with every single book that I have completed. UnWritten is a standalone novel about a very eclectic librarian and a very sexy Brit. This book wrapped its arms around me and wouldn’t let me go; it had my full attention from start to finish.

Blair is so different to any other female book character that I have ever read before. She isn’t your stereotypical librarian with her tattoos and her secret life as a romance writer with her best friend Raine. I loved Blair’s personality and her wit; she was beyond entertaining and an absolute delight. It’s unfortunate that this is a standalone because I wouldn’t mind reading a little more about Blair and her amazing man, Declan.

Declan is British; that says plenty about the swoon-factor of my new favourite book boyfriend. If the male character in a novel is British, you pretty much have me hook-line-and-sinker before I’ve even read the first page. Declan is a single father which was a total turn-on and he is working in finance while going to school to get his MBA. A man in a suit, with an accent and he is an incredible father; I need a Declan in my life!

Chelsea knows how to write an incredible novel and I love her writing style. All of her characters are memorable and I always feel like I’m there with them in the book as each chapter plays out. It may not be technically sane but when you form a connection with so many book characters, they start to become your friends in your head. Blair and Declan are now permanently etched in my mind and this is definitely a book that I would love to read again. Though there’s nothing like reading a book for the first time; I would gladly relive this over and over again. I have my fingers crossed that Chelsea writes a book for Raine because I just need to know more about her after reading UnWritten.

“This was my version of perfect.”

I am so speechless right now that I have absolutely no idea what to say; Kelly just keeps releasing these incredible books that I can’t fault. When I think of an author that captivates me with every story and can run me through a tornado full of emotions with every book – I automatically think of Kelly. From cowboys to marines, she has taken me on a journey that I do not want to end.

Lark is just… there are no words. If you’re expecting your dream guy to be a wimpy nerd than Lark isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for a sexy and protective alpha male that would do absolutely anything for the ones that he loves, then Lark is the perfect candidate. I was so close to wanting to jump into the screen of my iPad to claim him for myself. I know he is going to be a memorable book boyfriend for a very long time.

I don’t think Kelly knows how to write a female lead that I don’t like. Azurdee has just joined the Wanted and Broken girls as one of my favourite female characters of all time. She has this innocence and passion about her that is so intriguing that you just want to be her best friend. These characters just do me in completely – I want to know them all!

I loved that this story encompassed all of my favourite traits that Kelly uses in her writing style, yet it was also different to what she has given us before. I know that I can pick up any one of her books and I’ll instantly fall in love with the characters and the storyline. There have been many sleepless nights, thanks to Kelly, where I haven’t been able to sleep until I had finished reading the entire book. This was also the case with Unconditional Love. Each book draws you in and you just can’t put it down once you’ve started. I honestly don’t know what I would do now if I didn’t have these stories in my life.

I am beyond excited that Kelly is releasing a second book in this series, as well as the spin-off for Wanted; which I have been waiting FOREVER for.. just saying. I count down the days until every release day because Kelly’s books are worth it. From a fantastic story to the incredible person writing them, Unconditional Love is just another great book that you don’t want to miss out on. I highly recommend that everyone read this. I’ll be pimping it out to anyone that needs a book recommendation from here on out!

“Azurdee, you’re everything I’ve ever wanted, and everything I’ve ever feared.”

Blog Tour, ARC Review & Giveaway: Time of Possession (Seattle Lumberjacks #5) by Jami Davenport

Time of PossessionSupposedly undersized for the NFL, Brett Gunnels went off to do a stint in the US Army right out of high school. Returning damaged yet stronger and more determined than ever to prove himself, he was picked last in the draft. Mr. Irrelevant, they called him. The last few years as a backup quarterback have given him no opportunity to compete for the starting job. That’s why he has a chip on his shoulder the size of Puget Sound.

Estelle Harris is engaged to a man she doesn’t love, working a job she hates, and fooling everyone including herself in the process. Her love of animals is the only thing that gives her purpose—a love she shares the Lumberjacks’ reclusive quarterback. And then their mutual friendship turns a hot, dark, forbidden corner and there’s no going back.

True love is like football. It’s not always how long you have the ball. It’s what you do when you get it.

I read every book in the series on the lead-up to Time of Possesion and I can’t begin to describe how much I enjoy these books that Jami has written. Though it can be read as a standalone, reading the other books in the series helps to understand the characters a little better. I think that more of a connection can be made with the story if you’ve read the previous books.

Brett is now the starting QB for the Jack’s after Tyler, Estelle’s brother, is injured in a game. Having been the stand-in for so long, nobody has faith in Brett to lead the team to a Super Bowl Championship; including himself. It was endearing to see his confidence start to boost as he became more accustomed to the team and what is expected of him. He blamed himself for every single mistake in each game and still found it in himself to solider-on and try harder to prove he was worthy of the position.

Estelle starts off being engaged in the novel but some serious shiz goes down. She finds herself instantly attracted to Brett after discovering their mutual love for animals. These furry and feathery friends really warm your heart and make you burst out laughing throughout the novel. Once you meet Bongo, you’ll understand why. When Estelle decides to follow her dreams to become a Vet instead of wasting her life away in Finance; can she fit Brett into her plans?

This book was an enjoyable read and I couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait to see who will be the next team member to have their own book in this exciting series.

“I do mean it. With every breath I breathe I mean it. With every beat of my heart I mean it.”
