Breaking Away is a story of loss, healing, and love… where unexpected turns and heartache lead to passion.
To Nashville Assassins’ leading scoring center Phillip Anderson, playing hockey has always been easy… as natural as breathing. His life is no different. That’s until his world is turned upside down by the death of his sister. While mourning his loss, Phillip has to find a way to make his very angry sixteen-year-old niece, Claire, happy. Now, as her guardian, he discovers the only thing that seems to heal her lonely heart is dance class. But what he didn’t count on was the attraction he’d feel towards her drop-dead sexy dance teacher.
However, Phillip and Reese are happy in their single lives. It’s simple. They do what they want, who they want, and how they want, but from the moment they meet, the attraction is undeniable. Soon, they are more than willing to spend just one night tangled in the sheets. But, one night turns into two, and two turns into three, until they find themselves in a repeated dance of “One Last Time” that has the potential to be something more… if only Reese and Claire allow it.For Reese Allen, dancing has always been part of her soul. After having her heart broken in New York, she comes home with the determination to make her dance studio one of the best in Tennessee and succeeds. When she sees Claire dance for the first time, she knows the girl is bound for greatness and takes the troubled teen under her wing. Using dance as therapy, she suddenly finds herself bound to the young woman… and her hot-as-sin uncle.
Can Phillip find a way to thaw the hearts of both the women in his life, or will he be forever trying to break them away from their pasts?

Sports-related romance novels are my all-time favourite books. When I think of great books that fit in this category, I automatically think of Toni’s work. I came in late to this series, though as soon as I picked up Taking Shots, I caught up pretty quick. To say there were a few sleepless nights would be an understatement. I was hooked from the beginning and I still am a huge Assassins fan. I know that I can pick-up any book that Toni has written and not be disappointed. It goes the same for re-reads – you just fall in love with the characters and the storyline all over again because Toni is it that good.
It’s exciting to see the Assassin’s series continue with Reese and Phillip’s story. Moving back to Nashville after leaving who she thought was the love of her life in New York, Reese is on a mission to protect her heart from ever breaking again. She is determined to follow the path of having one-night stands instead of a relationship in order to ensure that her heart is safe. What she doesn’t expect is Phillip Anderson, Hockey player for the Nashville Assassins, to infiltrate her life. Along with Phillip comes his niece Claire who he now has guardianship over. When they discover that Claire and Reese have a mutual interest that could prevent Claire from following the dark path she is on, Phillip and Reese will become closer than ever. One night could lead to a whole lot more.
Breaking Away is just another amazing creation from Toni. This book has everything you could ask for; angst, romance, melting moments, feels, an incredible story, and we still get to see all of our favourite Assassins characters from the previous novels. If you’ve read an Assassins novel, than you know what I mean when I say that you are instantly drawn to the characters in the story. Toni has this way of creating these incredible and outstanding characters that are not easy to forget. I feel like I’m a part of the series when I read each book because these characters are like my family and I feel like I’m coming home. Toni provides us with a great story and always backs it up with an even better supporting story for all the characters. Reading this book was never boring.
I was sad when I reached the final page but because Toni is the greatest person ever, we are going to be able to read more Assassins novels in the future. I highly recommend these books to the Romance and Sports Romance fans. Being Australian, I had no idea about the NHL when I started reading Taking Shots, but I am proud to say that I am actually an NHL fan now. Toni Aleo opened my eyes to this incredible sport and I couldn’t thank her any more. I do apologise though, Toni – I’m a Blackhawks fan!

About the Author:
My name is Toni Aleo!
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I have been told I have anger issues, but I think it’s cause of my intense love for hockey!
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life…probably Belle, and did I mention I love hockey?
I hope to hear from you on here, my Facebook, or my twitter! Thank you so much!
