Review: The Sweetest Game (The Perfect Game #3) by J. Sterling

The Sweetest Game

This is the third (and final) installment in Jack & Cassie’s story!

“It’s one hell of a sledgehammer to the chest when your baseball career comes to an end. It’s like you finally realize that baseball never loved you back. All the sleepless nights, the hours spent at the gym trying to stay fit, the conditioning, the training, the mental preparation, the holiday’s missed, the birthday’s passed, the memories you didn’t get to make with your family…all for what? It’s not like baseball lost any sleep over you. She didn’t stay awake for nights on end trying to figure out how to make you a better player. She didn’t care. Baseball’s a business. A sport. A game. And as much as my entire life has been wrapped up in it, it’s time to let it go.”

5 star review!

If you have yet to meet Jack F’n Carter, then I highly advise that you seek help because it is a crime to not know who he is. I was over-the-moon when I found out that there would be a third book for Jack and Cassie. It was everything I hoped it would be and more!

When I first discovered the awesomeness that is eBooks and indie authors, The Perfect Game by J. Sterling was just one of the stepping stones that has lead me to a life of complete book-insanity. From that first time I picked up an indie book, I haven’t been able to stop since and I have Jenn to thank for that – though I think my family would disagree because I always have my head in a book and I never listen to anything they say because the world of book boyfriends is just that much more enjoyable than reality.

The Perfect Game and The Game Changer are just the lead up to Jack and Cassie’s happily-ever-after. It can be said that their relationship has been tried and tested more times than anybody could count. They have more challenges to face in The Sweetest Game as injury and uncertainty puts pressure on their relationship, yet again. First comes love, then comes marriage… I’ll let you figure out what happens next, though it was inevitable that Jack and Cassie’s relationship takes on that natural progression that life seems to take. The news is that much more exciting for Jack and Cassie fans because who wouldn’t want them to have everything that makes life all the more fulfilling?

The most exciting part about this novel is that we not only get to see Jack and Cassie’s relationship progress, but we also get to see what happens between Dean and Melissa. Fans of the series should be very happy with the outcomes on all accounts.

I cannot believe that our time with Jack and Cassie is over, but I hope that there is a “Chance” (see what I did there? ;) ) that we’ll get a spinoff series very soon. Pretty please, Jenn!
