ARC Review: Real (The REAL Series #1) by Katy Evans

The scorching international bestseller that strips away everything you’ve ever believed about passion…

Remington Tate has a bad-boy rep in and out of the ring, a granite-hard body, and a raw, animal power that sends his female fans into a frenzy. But from the moment their eyes lock, the only woman he wants is Brooke Dumas. His desire is pure, all-consuming, and REAL.

Hired to keep his perfect body working like a machine, Brooke finally has the lucrative sports therapy job she’s been dreaming of. But as she tours the dangerous underground fighting circuit with Remy and his team, Brooke’s own body becomes alive with the most primal of hungers. If what happens between Brooke and Remy is ever as light as a flirtation, it quickly becomes an erotic obsession for them both, and promises so much more.

But their white-hot lust has a dark side—and when Remy’s deepest secret comes to light and Brooke’s familial duties demand action, will the pair be able to hang on, or will everything that once seemed so real suddenly fade away like an illusion?

5 star review!

**ARC provided by Simon & Schuster Australia in exchange for an honest review.**

If you want a typical romance novel where the couple falls in love and rides off into the sunset with no problems; this is definitely not the book for you. But if you love a story that is REAL and passionate, with highs and lows and the kind of love that you would move mountains for… then I introduce you to the story of Brooke Dumas and Remington Tate.

When Brooke is roped into attending an underground boxing match, the last thing she would expect is to meet Remy. But when the athlete with the piercing blue eyes chases after her; she can’t believe her luck. I absolutely swooned all over Remy’s forward approach towards Brooke. He knows exactly what he wants and goes for it!

“Brooke,” he growls softly, meaningfully, against my lips, as he draws back with a smile. “I’m Remington.”

When Remy offers her the chance to work on his team of professionals in order to prevent any injuries; Brooke jumps at the chance to not only gain experience and future references, but also to be close to the man himself. He makes her feel again after losing her Olympic dream to a knee injury. I absolutely adore Brooke; she’s independent, driven and a role model for all women when it comes to picking up the pieces when life doesn’t go to plan.

“…I want to be your fucking REAL…”

Throughout the novel, Remy finds it difficult to communicate verbally and chooses to show how much he cares for Brooke with music. These moments are the ones that make your heart combust with pure happiness. After reading this, you will never be able to listen to ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls without thinking of Brooke and Remington.

And I realize maybe I do feel a little fear, after all. Because I’ve never given my heart to anyone until Remington. And he has the strength to pound it down as hard as he’s pounding his opponents.

This book does not just deal with the relationship between Brooke and Remington; it runs so much deeper. These characters don’t just face the trials and tribulations of loving each other, they also face the reality of mental health and it’s affects over the person it harbours within. It is also an example of how far a person will go for love, especially when it comes to family. I cannot wait to continue Brooke and Remy’s story in MINE. I am shaking at the thought of what could happen next!

“Protecting you is my privilege. I will protect you and anything that you value as if it were mine.”
