Review: Rock Chick Rescue (Rock Chick #2) by Kristen Ashley

Rock Chick Rescue

Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.

Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.

Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.

Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

5 star review

This is the sequel to Rock Chick and what a great sequel it is. Kristen knows how to write some kick ass books that never disappoint her readers!

I became so protective of Jet while reading this story. She is looking after her mother after having a stroke and holds two jobs at Fortnum’s and a strip club. Jet is working her butt off to make sure that her and her mother can have a roof over their heads. When her dad comes back into her life because he has no money, he puts her in danger with the bad guys.

Now it wouldn’t be a Rock Chick novel without a super bad ass, this time around it’s Eddie. Now, I thought I loved Lee but Eddie is definitely in competition with him. Deciding on your favourite book boyfriends is hard!

“Fair warning, Jet, I’m making you my business.”

Jet and Eddie are obviously both attracted to each other. When he realises that she’s in danger, he decides that she is living with him until it’s over. It’s a growing trend with these characters to see who gets the girl to move in with them faster.

“Chiquita, I’ll take anything I can get from you.”

Of course, there is shooting, kidnapping and a whole lot of drama in this novel. Rock Chick books are a whole lot of fun to read and I absolutely love them. It’s time for you guys to get your Rock Chick on! :)
