Review: Rock Chick (Rock Chick #1) by Kristen Ashley

Rock Chick

Indy Savage, cop’s daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up.

Now Indy’s employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he’s interested, Indy’s decided she’s not. But she can’t seem to keep Lee out of her life when she’s repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she’s finding dead bodies). Indy’s best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee’s challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

5 star review!

If there was ever a book that made me want to be totally awesome, then this is it. After reading this, I wanted to pack up my sad life here in Melbourne, Australia and move all the way to Denver, Colorado to join Indy and the other Rock Chicks. My new goal in life is to kick the ass of some serious bad guys and taser the hell out of them cause ROCK CHICKS RULE!!!

Indy is a Rock Chick and she has been in love with Lee Nightingale for as long as she can remember. At every turn she threw herself at him with no avail and she has finally decided to avoid him and give up the chase.

Indy is put in danger when Rosie, her employee, is involved in illegal dealings. After being shot at, Indy seeks help from her best friend and Lee’s sister, Ally. Lee’s apartment is now her new safe house, as he is ‘supposedly’ out of town. Now we all know what could possibly happen at this moment… in walks Lee Nightingale. Time for a fan-girl moment, and a big high-five to Ally for setting them up!

“Lee was driving, Lee was angry and Lee was, as per usual, going to do whatever he damn well wanted to do.”

No one knows exactly what Lee does for a living; just that he is super bad ass. When he discovers the mess that Indy has gotten herself into, as well as the fact that Rosie has done a runner, he offers his services in exchange for herself. Of course, Indy being a Rock Chick and giving up on Lee ever wanting her, she believes that if she can find Rosie first then she doesn’t have to live up to Lee’s deal.

“Emotional tears were unacceptable. Pissed off tears were perfectly fine, so I let them flow.”

There is no limit to the amount of times that Indy is either shot at or kidnapped in this novel. If want to read a book that is intriguing, stimulating and fun, then this is exactly what you are looking for. Kristen sure knows how to create some pretty awesome characters and story lines!
