Review: Being Me (Inside Out #2) by Lisa Renee Jones

Being Me

Fascinated by the dark fantasies in the journals she’s discovered, and the two men who have now found a place in her life, Sara McMillan finds herself torn between her new life and her past. Now, more than ever, Sara identifies with the lost journal writer, Rebecca, and is certain that something sinister has happened.

In the arms of the sexy, tormented artist Chris Merit, Sara seeks answers about Rebecca and ends up discovering things about herself she never knew existed. Chris forces Sara to reconsider who she is and what she truly wants from life, but not before his dark desires threaten to tear them apart. Her boss, Mark Compton, offers her the shelter to understand just what those needs mean to her, and what they might have meant to Rebecca, but can she trust him to lead her to a final conclusion to Rebecca’s story?

4 star review!

This novel starts off where ‘If I Were You’ ended. After the cliffhanger that left all readers on the edge of their seats, we discover that Sara is in danger because of her need to find Rebecca.

Chris is concerned for her safety and request that she lives with him until a Private Investigator can determine if she can go back to her normal everyday life. I absolutely adore Chris and his protective and possessive tendencies towards Sara.

“There was a time when I was certain we were too damaged not to destroy each other. Now I think we are saving each other.”

Things become slightly concerning when Sara receives another leather bound journal similar to Rebecca’s from her boss, Mark. Upon inspection of the journal, it turns out to be Rebecca’s business notes on the gallery. Though there is a suggestion on fraud artwork that Sara believes could have lead to Rebecca’s disappearance.

“Friends is a word used too loosely by too many people.”

I had a major fangirl moment in this book when the Walker Brothers make an appearance. For those that have previously read Lisa’s ‘Tall, Dark & Deadly’ series, then you will know exactly who I am talking about. There may have been screaming and possibly the biggest smile on my face from the moment they appeared! :)

I really enjoyed this book more than ‘If I Were You’. It has its fair share of angst, drama and revelations that will make you question why you didn’t pay more attention to the other characters that were in Rebecca’s life.
